The partial correlation coefficient gives the sample
correlation between the independent variable and the dependent variable after
removing any linear association with all other indepndent variables in the
analysis. This value is most often used
by internal calculations. For policy
interpretation it is often easier to use the coefficient of partial
determination.
The coefficient of partial determination is the square of
the partial correlation coefficient.
This coefficient of partial determination measures the marginal
contribution of one independent variable when all others are already included
in the model.
